The MPC
The Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) is the organization that hears and make decisions on zoning-related petitions in the city. It is where Savannahians can learn about business development. I encourage locals to attend a meeting to become familiar with what is happening in Savannah. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 12th.
Be a Tourist: Telfair Academy

If you want to feel like you are wandering the museums of Europe without the plane ticket, hop on over to the Telfair Academy. Impressively, it was the first public art museum to open in the South, as well as the first museum in the US to be founded by a woman, Mary Telfair in 1886!
This 19th & 20th century art museum is worth the visit for the neoclassical house alone with it’s handcrafted details, period decor, and grand rooms. The two main galleries, The Rotunda & Sculpture particularly create an inspiring space for observing and sketching the artwork. Upstairs is home to the famous Bird Girl statue along with interesting history, photographs, and paintings of Bonaventure Cemetery and Savannah.
Admission includes all three Telfair Museums (Jepson Center, Telfair Academy, Owens-Thomas House), redeemable over the course of a week, at $25 for adults, $23.50 for seniors/active military, $17.50 students (ages13-25), $10 children (ages 6-12). They also participate in Museums for All ($3 admission for those with EBT/SNAP benefits). Open daily 10am - 5pm.
