Oscar! Oscar!
Tonight is the Oscars. Next year, SCAD may be in the mix for Oscar nomination since films released in 2025 will be eligible for an Oscar in best casting. The Savannah College of Art and Design is the country’s only on-site, professionally run casting office at a college or university.
Women’s History Month
Savannah’s history is marked with amazing women who forged a path. Susie King Taylor was a nurse and a teacher. Mother Mathilda Beasley was the first African American Roman Catholic nun in Georgia. Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts. Flannery O’Connor was one of most prolific short story writers. Anna Colquitt Hunter, Lucy Barrow McIntire, Elinor Grunsfeld Adler Dillard, Nola McEvoy Roos, Jane Adair Wright, Katherine Judkins Clark and Dorothy Ripley Roebling all worked together to save The Davenport House and other historical structures in the city.
