Extreme Heat
This upcoming week is expected to be a hot one, with the possibility of a heat index of 110º! Even seasoned Savannahians can succumb to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Please take care of yourselves, loved ones, community, and pets.
Avoid activity outside especially during midday, the hottest time
Allow your body to adjust to the heat slowly when active oustide
Drink more water, even if you don’t feel thirsty
Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing
Be cautious with alcohol consumption as it dehydrates the body
Keep your windows, blinds, curtains closed
Limit heat-producing appliances, especially during the day
Water plants when the sun isn’t out to avoid water evaporation and burning of the plants
