Pools for a Day
As the temperatures heat, you may ask, “where’s the pool?” There are four public pools operated by the city Savannah and one is located at Daffin Park.
If you are looking for a swanky option, then check out Resort Pass. Resort Pass is an app that shows where you buy a pool pass from hotels for a day. I checked the app to see which Savannah hotels are offering resort passes, and currently there are three places listed: The Alida, Homewood Suites and Thompson Savannah.
3 Questions with Dee Hope of Must-see Savannah
What is your Savannahversary?
I moved back to Savannah in 2010 to start Savannah Bike Tours, which I owned and ran for more than 10 years, enjoying every minute of it. I was born in Georgia, and raised in small towns of South Carolina, and so I am very much familiar with the Lowcountry and it’s history, architecture, and foodways, and how they’re all interconnected. This summer, I am launching my latest endeavor, Must-see Savannah, to continue to tell the stories to locals and visitors alike—now on foot! This new tour focuses primarily on beauty and aesthetics—engaging all of our senses—to really immerse ourselves in our city, discovering Savannah anew.
What are two things you love about Savannah and one thing you wish were better?
Like many that love living here, the Savannah lifestyle—laid-back, casual, friendly, with a dash of hedonism—is hard to beat!
Also, our live-and-let-live attitude, where you can be yourself openly and be accepted is a huge part of Savannah’s appeal. Oglethorpe, our founder, started this with his progressive ideals. It’s truly amazing that this has stood the test of time.
One improvement sorely needed, though, is affordable housing. The city dropped the ball in this—not taking a proactive approach to the problem 25+ years ago. A myriad of factors have had, and will continue to have, a negative affect on this issue for years to come, unfortunately.
What are you excited to share with others?
Locals are definitely who I would like to invite on a Must-see Savannah tour. How many times have we all said to ourselves that every time we explore our city, we notice so many wonderful things we never had before? That is what I want this tour to be. We all know there are plentiful “must-see” sights, but along the way there are so many wonderful details and their connections to our City’s story that also must not go unnoticed. Come rediscover your beloved Savannah with me, and bring your friends and family members—I promise you will see and hear things you never knew. It can truly be a renewing of your love for your hometown…that allure you felt your first time you can feel again!
