3 Questions with Katie Rodgers-Hubbard

Who exactly is Katie Rodgers-Hubbard?
Moved to Savannah in July 2020. Midwestern gal, loves sketch comedy, a bleeding optimist. I've been married to my partner, Darron, for 10 years and have a dog named Neville.
Why did you start Lite Foot Company?
As a former military spouse, we moved around quite a bit. We've lived in various regions in the United States and in Europe. We experienced the spectrum of how communities handle recycling, waste, and sustainability. Very quickly after moving to Savannah, I saw a need for a way to shop sustainably.
Lite Foot Company is a play on your carbon footprint. We allow people to walk lite(r) on the earth by giving them a way to live with less single-use plastics. Lite Foot offers both sustainable home goods (reusable counterparts to things we traditionally use that are plastic or single-use) and is a refillery. A refillery is a way for you to get all your essentials that normally come in plastic, in reusable containers. We have large gallon jugs, and you come in with a reusable containers and fill and refill.
What are you excited about with your new location in Starland?
I am excited for several reasons:
The brick and mortar will allow us to reach a new, bigger audience to spread a low-waste message.
We know that sustainability has to be easy and accessible to reach the majority of people. By having the B&M it makes it easier for our returning customers to shop more frequently and get even more of their necessities package free (bigger inventory!).
We are also excited for the programs we have in mind for the community. We will soon be launching the Lite Foot Environmental Foundation which is a 501(c)3 with a goal of education, awareness, and practical immersion into a more sustainable life.
Also Starland is the PERFECT location for us. We love all of the other businesses in the neighborhood. It’s accessible, and it's the right kind of weird for us!
