Service Brewing Run Club: Every Thursday at 6:30pm; $5 annual fee

Service Brewing Beer Yoga: Last Saturday every month at 12pm; 60-min vinyassa yoga + pint for $15
3 Questions With Amy Elasser
When is your Savannahversary?
My Savannahversary is Nov 7th, 2018. So, I've been here for 4 years. It feels like a much shorter time, but also much longer than 4 years. My husband, Kenny Woelpper, and I are from Maryland and lived in Baltimore for the past 10+ years before this.
What are two things you love about Savannah and one thing you wish were better?
I love the history and beauty in Savannah. The trees, the old buildings and beautiful houses. I love sitting in a square on a beautiful day, people watching. If I have an open container beverage, that just makes it better. Being close to the beach is perfect for me too.
I also love the community I have met here. We have made some great friends here, from such a variety of backgrounds and interests. I love learning from other people, so meeting people who are so different from me has been wonderful. Our neighborhood group really watches out for each other, and supports each other. I did not have anything like this in Baltimore.
Of course, Savannah is not perfect. I think one of the things that bothers me the most is the huge financial divide. We have multimillion dollar mansions and people living in abject poverty. We have an expensive, for-profit college that doesn't pay taxes. Savannah does actually have a large variety of safety net programs, though they are not always the easiest to find. We need more low income housing, reliable public transportation, safe sidewalks, bus lanes and living wages. Obviously, this isn't a problem limited to Savannah, but I'd like to see more work towards improving these problems.
What do you want people to know about you?
Something you should know about me is always so tough to answer. My friends have always said I'm secretly a 90 year old man. I love gin, cardigans, puzzles, Scrabble, reading and napping. I have recently taken up cross stitching. I'm happy to sit on the porch and stare. And don't even get me started on the youth of today!
