Opening and Closing
The wait is over. Brochu’s Family Tradition restaurant is now open at 2400 Bull Street. The entrance is on 40th Street. I asked and the pronunciation is “bro-shoe”. In addition, Good. Good. Shop just opened on 2809 Bull Street south of Victory Drive. Wild Wings Cafe in City Market has closed.
The 31401 Interview
We asked Megan Kranzler of Olive Ridley Studios three questions.
What is your Savannahversary?
September 2005
What are two things you love about Savannah and one thing you wish were better?
This might sound cliche, but I love the live oak trees and Spanish moss. Driving down Washington Avenue is one of my happy places in Savannah. There's just something whimsical and magical about it.
I also absolutely love Savannah around the holidays, or at least I did before they started blasting music along Broughton Street. The city is always decorated with classic greenery and red ribbons and bows. It makes our already beautiful city a little more beautiful for one month out of the year. Unfortunately, the music on Broughton Street makes it feel more like Disney Land than a historic city, but that's just my opinion.
As a bonus, I also love the bar and restaurant scene in Savannah. It's grown and evolved so much over the 17 years I've lived here. We have some truly unique and wonderful places to eat and drink.
Oh, and I love how dog-friendly Savannah is, including many of our bars and restaurants.
I'm sure there are things that I wish were better, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any right now. I guess I'm just too full of holiday spirit and gratitude to dwell on the negatives.
