Festivus
Festivus, a holiday for the rest of us, was started by the author Daniel O’Keeffe. The official date is December 23rd, but can be celebrated any day in December. Festivus was made popular by an episode of Seinfeld that aired in 1997. Twenty five years later, celebrating Festivus is a secular way for people to enjoy the holiday season while also closing out the end of the year. My friend Allen Salkin wrote a book about Festivus, and I, Nichelle, have hosted a Festivus comedy show here in Savannah for the past two years.
Free Parking
While we do encourage walking, riding a bike, or taking the dot Shuttle, there’s free parking in city-owned garages on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through December 28 from noon to 8 p.m.
